Loddon and Chedgrave is continually adapting and evolving, particularly when it comes to the shops and services provided. With the recent success of the Loddon Farmers’ Market, and the even more recent achievements of Rosy Lee’s tea room, the area has a very active business heart.
Reflecting this is an interesting local experiment proposed by Melanie below, which asks for people to only shop in Loddon and Chedgrave as best they can for a month and feedback their experiences. With enough volunteers, the project should provide some insightful information about how complete the area’s services are and what steps can be made in the future.

It would be a good idea if the tiny, overstuffed co-op could be closed and rebuilt on the land by the new surgery rather than yet more houses, which would in itself create more demand in said shop!Bungay did it,why not Loddon? I do understand the need for more housing, but surely it then follows that a larger shop with more stock/choice that actually has room in it for customers would then be needed? This is the real issue for Loddon shoppers.I can’t see a planning permission problem as there already exists a co-op in the village, better them than Tesco etc!!Also, perhaps the reason Loddon hasn’t won any more awards lately could be due to the eyesore behind the co-op,you know, the trolleys, bins and other detritous this shop leaves on the pavement… p. (langley).
p.s. I know I don’t live in Loddon but as Langley has no shops,Loddon is the nearest place to shop.
I sincerely hope not! This would kill the centre of Loddon stone dead, the surgery moving was bad enough. However I understand the Co-op owns the remainder of the bulding they are already in and they could expand which I’d love to see. I can’t imagine that the catchment area’s population for Loddon would be sufficient to warrant a larger new store anyway.
