Funky Feet School of Dance and Performing Arts present “Time”
Hobart High School, 26th and 27th November
By MAUREEN LARKIN
From curtain up to the lively finale we were swept along on a sea of talent, colour, energy and fun at this excellent show of dance, song and acrobatic skill. Every one of the 160 pupils that took part, with ages ranging from 3 yrs to 60 yrs, looked as though they were having a terrific time.
Act 1 took us to the magical world of Alice in Wonderland, whilst Acts 2 and 3 took us on a journey in time from the 1920s to the present day, with such numbers as “Leaning on a Lamp Post”, “My Boy Lollipop”, “Thriller”, and “We will Rock You” to name but a few. There was strong singing and narration and some wonderful costumes, and the dancing just had me tapping my toes the whole time.
It would be very unfair to single out anyone but Megan Miller and Georgia Hothershall’s dance to the Adele song “Make me Feel Your Love” was particularly impressive. The lighting effects added to the overall professionalism of the show and Vicky Codling is to be commended that, despite having two very young daughters, moving house, and working on the choreography for the forthcoming local Pantomime, she is still a perfectionist when it comes to her dance shows.
Well done to everybody involved. It was magical.
