Convictions Follow October’s Disorder In Loddon

By BEN OLIVE

In October last year, overnight between the 1st and the 2nd, police officers were called to the Church Plain area following reports of youths causing criminal damage and anti-social behaviour. Several men, aged between 17 and 21, were arrested at the scene for public order offences and another was fined for drunken behaviour.

This week six convictions have been made following the disturbance. Yesterday two men were jailed for their involvement in the disorder and for attacking police – receiving 5 and 7 months. Others face community sentences following convictions for public order offences.

Judge Peter Jacobs, who presided over the cases at Norwich Crown Court, said “This was a very serious incident of disorder, and it was pretty terrifying for all those who had to observe it.”
